The “secret” to shooting astrophotography with an iPhone is to use the camera’s “Night Mode,” which automatically engages when capturing images in the dark. And then, when the phone is finished being taken, you’ll see an image that you simple couldn’t have gotten in normal exposure.”

To get it Night Mode to capture stars in the sky, however, you’ll need the exposure to be longer than three seconds. So, swipe up at the bottom of the screen and you’ll see a horizontal slider that lets you set the exact length of your exposure. To capture the stars, you’ll probably want the exposure set to between 10 and 30 seconds.

“The longer the exposure you have, the more light will come in, so the more stars and detail you should see in your nighttime photo,” the video explains.
