On August 12th, 2026, a spectacular total solar eclipse crossed parts of the Northern Hemisphere. The Moon passed directly between Earth and the Sun, completely blocking the Sun for viewers along the narrow path of totality.
Totality was visible in areas including Greenland, Iceland, northern Russia, Spain, and a small part of Portugal, with the eclipse lasting up to about 2 minutes and 18 seconds at its longest.
Millions of people elsewhere experienced a partial solar eclipse, including viewers across much of Europe, Canada, and parts of the northern United States.
After spending years envisioning and planning their eclipse photos, photographers flocked to different corners of the world to experience and document the phenomenon, and we’d like to share some of our favorite captures.
